Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Door Trim Removal

Hey ppl im afraid im being a bit lazy here but can anyone please tell me how to remove the door trims. I think i just have the window winder left to get off but it seems a little tight to have a clip on.

    Thanks heaps!

There are 2 screws on each side(2 near hinge end...2 near lock end), the two screws that hold the handle in and then the window winder which you just need to flick the cap off with a flat head to get access to the screw itself.

Then there should just be the clips at the top/bottom which you should be able to just pull the door card out carefully without damaging it.

    I think thats it...

the window winder is screwed on. the little cover clips off, you'll see the screw underneath.

so much easier than those stupid clips.

don't forget the door handle surround which slides forward then off! Try not to break the tabs off.

Nothing stupid about that.....what would have been stupid is to not ask the question then use a crow bar to rip the door card off
