Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Thats the special price and I only have one left for that much.
IT`d cost that much to crack your box open and get it put back together.

i still am. i sick of vpt its the crappest thing on this damn earth. i have to leave my house an whole hour earlier than i need to be there to get on a tram then a bus to be on time to work. its crap house! it takes 10mins to drive there.

but seriously...how much is a syncro worth? i can do the build myself. or give it to my mate to do at tafe...as he is doing manual transmission rebuilds.

Can you just trash the car in first gear then skip second and jump in to 3rd?

Your man at Tafe will have to take note of what he does when he strips out 5th gear to take note of adjustments as it can be adjust in the box and if it is wrong it will jump out of 5th!!! 2nd gear the most common gear for this. HOw bad is it mate????????? The reason i ask is i had a Polo gti crunch 3rd every time up or down the box. drained the oil and replenished with Redline MTL which has better friction properties. Try it mate for the sake of $70 might extend the life a bit. Failing that the box is not too bad if you know what you are doing

I reckon I have some new second gear syncros and possibly a set of diff bolts in my shed somewhere that belong to evorobin.

                          Shoot him a PM

He might not want them as he got another box.
