  • Please help spluttering cabrio !!!!!

Whilst driving home today (in the heavy rain, if that has anything to do with it?)

my 91' cabrio would splutter and lose power, i'd give it a bit of gas and then it would start to pick up and drive as usual.......?? any ideas.....this seems to have co-incited with heavy coolant loss. which i think was coming from a split top hose (now taped up)

oil, coolant, plugs are all clean, there is no dreaded white smoke either, and the car will sit and idle fine ????????????????????????????????

    please help guys

Check for dirty fuel filter. If this is clogged car can work fine sometimes and then splutter and surge the next.

Moisture or dampness in the cap mate like the fellas say, Clean with WD40 mate in the interim. Seen some weird and wonderful mods in the UK to stop it with us having dampness or rain as a daily thing- ive seen a washing up glove over the cap 4 leads and king lead through the fingers of the glove, looks bizarre

You could get dampstart in a can in the UK, that formed a plastic seal over everything. That was good stuff. Never seen it here tho.

I remember having it always by my side, bit like the de-icer as well

I think WD40 does water displacement and creates a seal..
