  • Bypass transmission fluid cooler?

Would you do it do get you around in the short term ??

Mine has spat all the coolant out and I believe it is damaged, the oil section is fine, but need to get home, bypassing it would seal up the coolant again, but not sure what damage I may cause?

    Any suggestions.

Mate I have bypassed it and the leak has stopped so tells me it is the automatic transmission fluid cooler.

Has your still got the cooler on it mate ?

It is about 12mm by 15mm, and has two hose outlets and is fixed onto the bellhousing by two bolts ?

Bypassing it will get you home.
If you driveit like that too long, the transmission wont be cooling and could be damaged.

How long is too long mate, roughly speaking, I driver her for an hour twice a day max.

I am struggling to locate the part I need, but need to get to work in the mean-time, however do not want to create more damage...

There was a thread on a auto to manual cabrio conversion not long ago. So i guess someone has a spare box around. A quick search will answer all.

Bugger, thanks for looking buddy !!

It is made of ally, with a hole in the top and one in the bottom for hoses.

Two bolt holes in the centre.

Thanks Matey, I'll keep looking. Not looking good though !

I dont have a Mk1 cooler for you

Manual conversion in a Mk1 is easy.

I`d drive the auto till I killed it and find all the conversion parts in the meantime.

I`ll keep trying for a cooler for you though.
