i was looking at some 210cca's (184mm X 79mm X 169mm) for 300ish on "modyourcar.com.au" just then. for a 1.6 petrol would that be enough... not really sure of what size the petrol 8v's require.

i have a mate that runs one of these on his 4age (1.6 16v 4cly for thoes who dont know) toyota ae86 with no worries.

and with that size it could sit under the passengers seat without to much problem i think?

    *edit*

just had a look at a few car bat. sites and the lowest CCA rated bat. for the golf was 375cca DIN44LMF (found here - http://www.batteryworld.com.au/files...ec%20Sheet.pdf)

    also these guys have these - http://linux.supercharge.com.au says - CCA @ -18 Deg: 475 or CCA @ -18 Deg: 545 for the SuperCharge Classic N55 & SuperCharge Gold MF55

I saw that too, and the 'performance' spec battery was well into the 400CCA range (can't remember exactly). The frustrating thing about that site is that there's no prices given

For all of you who were sitting on the edge of their seats dying to hear what happened next, listen in.

Had a flat battery again on Friday (didn't the lights on this time) so I got the RAA out to replace it. Turns out the old one was from 2002 - several years before I even owned the car - so it was due. A few minutes and $184 later I had a brand new extra heavy duty battery (rated at 500 cca) installed and the old one disposed of, all without having to lift a finger. The car cranks better than ever now, so it was worth it in the end. Could have had it charged again, but it would only have been a matter of time before it needed replacing.

        Cheers, Stephen
