  • MK1 5dr pics - please post

    hey all

im new on here so hello to all, been keen on MK1 golfs for a while but ive finially decided its time to get one and have a go at building something other than a 80's FR toyota.

im keen on 3dr's but there seams to be a couple of 5drs around atm that i could get while fixing up a 3dr shell and swap over motor and parts at a later date, anyway...

if you got any 5door pics i'd like to see them, i went thru the whole 111 pages on VWvortex forums and i only found these ones so far (theres prob. more but i either didnt save them or passed over them as i was going blind from looking at so many golfs )

lol they're probably all the done up 5dr's in the whole world

if you've got your heart set on a 3dr just wait till one comes up. no point starting work on a 5dr just to start all over on a 3dr. half the work on an mk1 golf is in the body anyway. theres a 3dr for sale on here atm anyway; posted by golfworx.

        welcome to the vw community

        ps i like this :

              thanks for the repilys guys!!!!

i do have my heart on a 3dr but i need a daily so i can take my 81 soarer off the road for a little while to drive around in. was planning on getting suspension, wheels and playing with a clean engine bay then when a 3dr comes along ive got it all sorted out and jsut swap it over.

the 5drs look a bit funny to me, but then again i hanvt seen a pic of one done as nicely as some of the 3drs ive seen...but with the right wheels and height anything can be made to look good

ive seen golfworx shell for sale but its in sydney so i might wait for one in brissy to show up.

Here's some pics of mine before i sold it. If i had my way i would have slammed it but the mrs said she refused to drive it in that state.

Now the new owner will give the slamming it needs

                      Welcome to VWWatercooled xcedricx!

Hope you enjoy it & I'm sure you will find it very friendly & informative.

The 3dr I adverstised was on behalf of a friend & the car is located in Melbourne.

Anyway, I'm a fan of the 5dr mk1's & also had a couple of them at one time or anther, as to me they look complete along the quarter panel. They also have a much better "fat arming" position".

It's also not as much of a hassle to carry your friend's.

This is my car from a recent VW National's roadtrip in May this year. It's not this clean anymore that's for sure!

again, thanks for the warm welcome guys!

melbourne makes it even harder, ill keep my eyes pealed to see whats about in the next few months, no rush for a 3dr. but your mates shell looks pretty nice apart from the ding in the tailgate/hatch.

hahaha, i never heard the term "fat arming" before (i know what it is just never a term for it) thats quite a nice example of it in the pic there, as well as a very nice example of a 5dr.

im gona go for the rat rod style car... sorta shabby but really mint rims and tyres etc... altho the 3dr will be mint like thoes

also ive seen afew of thoes GTI front lips on ebay but was hoping for something made in Oz to cut out that nasty international shipping, but it cant be helped i guess, im used to it with the soarer and all the parts i get from japan so at leased getting stuff from UK will maked things easyer.

                              two more pics
