  • Mk1 lost water...

    So what happens when your alternator adjusting bracket decides to chew through it’s mounting bracket?


    Well, what I’m pointing to should have been a single hole for the bolt (as seen on the right), and not the open ended slot that you can see here…


    …so now the alternator adjusting bracket started to chew it’s way through the water-pump housing

    I realised that I was loosing water because my temp gauge started reaching for the heavens.

    Anyway, just thought I would share as I’ve never seen this before.

    Should all be fixed in a couple of days.

      did the lower alt bracket bushing wear out or something?

      Isn't that what that bushing was meant to stop from happenening???

        Yup. The bushing is totally cactus.
