    you sure they're 15s and not 16's
a common mod in europe is to use narrower tyres than the recommendation to give tyres that rubber band look telltale is the stretched side wall

Your best bet is to get a toyo agent to source some TR-1's in 195/45/15. Then again they aren't that different to 195/50/15 and I sourced Toyo TPG for $110/corner.

Yokohama do a 185/50-15, this is a similar side wall height to a 195/45-15 but a bit narrower. Good for the stretch look.

If ya want to go really nuts Bridgestone and Continental do a 175/55-15. I'm putting some on the front of my splitty. (it's pretty low).

The load rating on the 165/45/15s doesn't meet regulations on a Mk1 here. I was going to import some to put on my old 15x7s (now on Ben's little minter!!) and called up to check and was given a big thumbs down, which was strange. I called back and talked to someone else and got the same answer

The continental versions are near impossible to find anywhere but Germany or Holland. I found a few in this size available in the US but they were all cheapo jobs.

I'm sure you could fit them and no plod would have a clue but my car still has to pass the pits

They look great, though Stretch on a 7" is quite a lot, however and the ride quality would be terrible!!

Yeah don't think I'd ever go that narrow. I'm thinking 185/50-15.

you guys wanting 40-45 series rubber - you'll not only do your head in but your heart, wallet and wheels will take a battering when you hit the next pothole!

this post has been battering my head!
                          40 profile rubber for 15's?
I looked for these years ago for 7 inch rims and found limited availability and prohibitive price tags.
I thought my choice was pretty extreme until I came across these!
