    yea I figured that much. What engine is the head off? the only cross flow head I know of is the ABA and 16V's....?? and the ABA is a 2L, and it's not a 16V cause you said it was an 8V..

          One of the most common engines sold in Audi A3s and mk4 Golfs in Australia since 1998 are 1.6 crossflow motors .No rocket science or secrets there I'm afraid.

              Alloy block as well if my fading memory serves me correect...
              Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

              If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
