  • Help me Identify these parts :)

    Hi All
About 6 months ago I purchased a Mk1 which had previously been used as a hillclimb car but I will be building into a circuit racer (IPRA car)
Anyway I finally started looking at what I have over the weekend, most of which will be sold because the car has a ADZ motor which will be moving on

So, take a look at these:

Obviously the left has Ball joint replacement rose joints
I would think the centre is the spacer, though the bolt is a fair bit smaller diameter than the centre hole, this is on a 15mm upright
The left ones have have me a bit confused, hole is smaller than the bolt and outer bigger than the rose joint ID. The paper inside "BS Spacer" not sure what that could be.. BJ would be easy! I tried Google the address on the paper as well, but came up doughnuts
Anyone know what brand these would be? Or any other information I can garner on their installation

Unfortunately the guy I bought this off is overseas and it came with it when he got it, so he can't put me in the right direction
Stupidly I left this stuff where I store the car, so I cant get measurements exact measurements until next weekend

Next one is a bit easier
it is a cam. No box but I think it is a CatCam, part number appears to be 7640204, and the Cat Cams have similar part numbers, but I can't find this one, so I assume it is a deleted part.

It is pretty big, I have a manual non-dial type vernier (so not 100% accurate) but it appears to be 14.5mm lift, so we are talking full race, it also comes with springs and retainers
Again if anyone knows the exact spec it would be handy

I think the ball joint bits might be SCCH parts or something similar.

    Southern California Cylinder Heads

It looks to me like you're missing bits for the ball joints.

The other parts look like a tie rod flip kit but missing the rose joints.

    No idea on the cam.

I think you may be right with 2 different parts, a tie rod kit, but not a SCCH one
I can get a pin machined, wouldn't do that myself because it is kind of a critical joint...

I think I know this car, a cream coloured 4 door with a half cage and It was a turbo at one stage of its life.

Solid car. I was almost ready to buy it, just for all the spears that came with it. But had toooooo many projects going and not enough time.
Love to see some pics and progress reports.

Doesn't seem to be any evidence of life as a turbo but I guess it is possible, just has a Mk3 injected 1.8 non-crossflow, was in the process of going to and ITB set up. If it was turbo then it will be like a home coming because it is going that way again

Progress, well it is 6 months and I have just pulled the junk out except the spare motor in the passenger seat (cause I have no way to lift it by myself) and dropped the motor and box removed the full engine loom (MoTeC), so not much to report

                Correct me if I'm wrong,
Did the sump have a home made oil dump inlet??
Or there might be one spare in your parts collection.

Well the motor without a head in the passenger space may have (not looked close enough) but as it happens there is a spare sump and I took photos of it, the one on the car is the same

So the Cam is a big one:
                    Nokan asteet: 306°
                    Venttiilin nosto: 14,50 mm
                    Nokkien välinen kulma 106°
                    Auki ykk. imu 5.76mm
                    Auki ykk. pako 5.74mm

Finnish web site, so they are probably crazy enough to use that one on rally!

That's similar to the one I used in my 8V

Quite drivable but makes it's power up where most people are afraid to rev.

As mentioned earlier on the thread, they don't look quite like SCCH items. The ball joints do, but the rest is different.

The large diameter silver items - are those the balljoint spacers, just sandwiched in with a bolt?

No , I worked it out in the end, all the bits except the rose joints are the steering arms spacers for bump steer correction.
The spindles are not there... Found them and they are on the car!

Ah!. Those are big steering arm spacers though. Intriguing. I wonder if they have been added to the kit after some bump steer measurements. Not usually seen with the SCCH kit anyway.
