If the car already has a 1.8 in it and on the papers. I`d just get a 1.816v and change the engine. An easier form and then you are all legal on paper. I`d just say its a GTI motor, here are the papers. Cops dont know much about old golfs anyway.

The rust needs fixing. A good welder could cut that out and weld in plates.

yo gas definatly go the kr 16v its a rad moter dude.... and i agree change it on the papers it makes it easier, and to deal with the cops after they track down your golf which is faster than a coppers tank, beware with a 16v you will get in to trouble...hahaha
