Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Cabby brakes

i am unsure what type of front brakes the cabby come with, but this one appears to have gti disks with the standard calipers.
there is an adapter plate between the caliper and the hub, does this look like the case.?
the brakes don't feel very good, but i have nothing to compare them to!

Looks like a TSR big brake upgrade, the adaptor is their part with a ~ 280 dia disc ( not std VW offset hat ) Uses Std 239 Dia ventilated calipers ( Std for Mk1 GTI and later Mk1 Cabriolets )

Run the tape across the disc and check the size, should be around 280 mm
    Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

    Cheers,
    Grant...

I had 270mm discs on my MK1 GTI same deal with the bracket, just used a turned down 280 disc for extra cost!

they are 280mm rotors as you expected. so, the tsr kit is the bigger rotors and the adapter plates to use the standard calipers?
