  • 20vt on mk1 - oem wiring help

    Hi guys,

I'm just about ready to start the wiring up of the AGU in my cabby, and was hoping anyone who has gone down this path or is about to, could assist. The plan is to use the factory ecu, so please don't suggest going qpeng, haltech etc. VW had already fixed all idling, operating and all sorts of issues, so I don't see why I should get a blank ecu.

I've been doing a ton of research, and have found one site and link in particular that's very helpful. Unfortunately I'm still pretty lost, and don't understand all the terms.

OEM MK4 management wiring => Mk1/2/3 harness install FAQ

Can anyone please tell me what I would need from the mk4? I have the ecu, and engine harness at this stage only. Do I need any relays? Do I need the inside loom for anything. Please do let me know what I need to make this work.

I've just about finished everything and only need wiring left. Thanks guys!

you will need to know what immo you have so you can delete the immo, otherwise the car will start and stop in 3 seconds.
you will need 2 relays, 1 is for the main power to the ecu and 1 to the fuel pump.

you will need to obd port so you can get a flash tune later on this also is for diag.

      Hey buddy,

Thanks for the reply. Immo has just been deleted and I should have my ecu back soon.

As for the relays, do I have to get it from a wrecked gti mk4, can it be any mk4, or can a generic relay be wired up. As for the obd port, unfortunately I am unable to get the entire loom, but I could possibly chop just the obd port from a known wreck. Am I able to wire that up to the ecu? I don't even know where the obd port is found, and whether it goes to the ecu or the fusebox (efi wiring noob).

So I can just cut the port plug out, and re wire it in the mk1? Awesome! Yes please, any assistance with the qpeng would be epic.

Also can recommend Gavin, easy transaction.

And wow dude that's cool. I might have to pm you for more info.
