Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Carburetors can be side draft or down draft - the float chamber is different between these configurations
Side draft is probably better as it has a direct airflow into the head - but needs a lot more space
Down draft will put the air flow through an elbow, this configuration uses less space but is taller

Both work really well for street cars
In Motorsport there would be a preference for side draft
But it's mostly fuel injection and ECU these days which is far superior to carburators
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

sorry, I was meaning on this car the fuel bowl is on the right and throttle linkage are on the left, while all the other down draught weber setups, show it the other way round.

Yeah it was just a curiosity question, as the car runs fine.
