  • MK1 Golf AC removal question

I have a quick query regarding removing the entire AC from my MK1 Cabriolet - I've got everything out okay - piping, compressor, condenser, wiring, switches etc etc - I'm just a bit stuck when it comes to this:

I can't separate it at all, it's riveted. So do I just sell it and buy a new non AC version. I haven't got my Bentley on me right now, so I'm not quite sure what's actually in there. There's a drain plug on the underneath that you can't see. Is there anything in there that is heater related or can I just get rid of it without worrying about my heating working afterwards?

Any other tips for forgotten AC parts that I might have missed would be appreciated too!

    Thanks!

Never had one apart myself. The wiring looks like it just plugs inline with the std build of a MK1 without AC. If there's no water pipes going into it. I'd say the thing is standalone and leave it as is.

Find your self a non AC console to put back in.
