  • Mk1 stud pattern and wheels

    Hi,
    I am relativley new to the water pumper scene and have a mk1 4door. At the moment it has 14" wheels that look like they are off a mk3 or late mk2. I am thinking of getting new wheels but I don't know what the stud pattern is in the mk1. Is it 4 x 100?? What other makes of car has the same stud pattern. Also what sort of offset is good for the mk1?

    Thanks all.

    mk1 - 4x 100 pcd, not sure what centre bore is (57mm?), offset 35-38mm; any larger you'll probably not clear your brakes, any larger and you'll rub your guards unless you roll'em ;

    mk3 4 stud wheels should fit - any mk1's/ 2's out there that can elaborate?

    this is common with japanese 4x100's but not all japanese wheels will have big enough centre bore.

        anything in between 30 and 40 offset will work with a mk1...

          thats right,

          the centre bore is as close to 57mm as makes no difference. most 4x100 wheels will fit a mk1. steer clear of offsets greater than 42.

          WELCOME!

            is 42 the ABSOLUTE limit for the mk1's? Or will say an et45 fit with a narrower rim of say for instance a 5.5 or 6 inch?

              You can go a 6" wide with a ET45, but I'd fit 5mm spacer's to safely clear the back spring's.

              I've had ET25 with 7" wide, but had to massage the front & rear guard's.

              Currently have 16x6 with adapter's ET30 on KW V3's on just about it's lowered limit & had to take out the front guard lip's & massage the rear guard's

                  Pic's. It's about another 5mm lower at the front now.
