I know BAMs, AGUs and APYs/AMKs are available in australian delivered A3's, S3s and TT's.

I thought the difference in power between a BAM and APY is just tune, they will both make similar power after you get an aftermarket tune.

I'd strongly recommend seeking advice from an automotive engineer to see what's possible before you start.

It'll save you a lot of hassles with registration and compliance if you get the advice early.

Can anyone tell me if the APY, AMK, BAM engine does come in A3 Quattro's. A lil busy at work so I would really appreciate an answer on this cause I might be able to get either one of them and then just need the rest later

Those engine codes are S3 only.

I think you will find an AGU Or AUM in an A3

                Find a suitable mk1 first.

Your biggest hurdle is going to be finding a suitable mk1 chassis, bofore you sink all your money into an engine and the rest!!

                Just a thought..

I know this is of topic, but this is what me and my dad are trying to finish.

So, my saterday went as follows. Only got home at about 2:00 in the morning then went to work with dad on his project. Went in to go and change chassis rubbers, fix a gearbox oil leak and put a new transfer case on the gearbox.

Started with with the chassis rubbers losening all the mounts and then only realised we had to little rubbers for the amount of mounts because dad miscounted it by four. So we have to postpone because it is a waste of time to redo it again.

Then decided to attack the gearbox and all went smooth with taking it out and changing the t-seals and the crank seal, but...

When we had to start putting it all back together we had a slight hick-up. The new transfer box won't fit. So after hours of struggling and trying to figure it out. We left it because we had other commitments. But for a couple of jobs that should only have taken about 4-5 hrs, we were busy for about 7-8hrs.

My MY10 S3 was built in April 2009, so fair to say the majority of 2001 S3s would have been MY02.

Now there is another plan thrown up by my old man. Coz I can get a 2door Mk1 body and my old man said he'll help cover import costs for a KR 16V and then we run 45 DCOE's!!!!!

So I got this greyish Mk1 from a dude here in the ACT. Fella was pretty upset he had to let her go. But anyway, I finished work pretty early today and thought I might start on a few things. I took the battery tray out and waterbottle mount. Welded up some holes in the engine bay but DAMNNNN it is touchy in there. Need more practice but I will get there. Then started to attack the inside and ripped the carpet up, as far as I can see there is no floor rust which is good. But I am real worried about the hole in the firewall. But that I will attack once I have the engine out and a frame built to mount the body on. Here are some snap shots...

You had everyones attention at the start their but You might be better of scratching the mk1 itch by doing a 16V conversion
and then planning a 4motion project after you get that gearbox in
Being so keen on mk1's myself it got frustrating not having a running mk1 to drive about in
whilst the project went on in the background year after year...
I only have 2 mk1's now a daily and the project.
Alas their is only so much time in the day
