  • mk1 rebuild - subaru calipers?

G'day guys, slowly gearing up to start doing a whole bunch of stuff to the poor little mk1 sitting in my shed, and i have a bit of a n00b question. I've come into posession of some subaru calipers, i beleive either off a wrx or svx. Any ideas if these would fit a mk1? Also have some svx dba drilled/slotted brake rotors, sincerly doubt that they would fit though. An item for ebay i think. Any ideas guys?

Geez i'm itching to get this mk1 running again.

You can make pretty much any caliper fit with an adapter, it's just that some will be closer than others. They're certainly not going to bolt straight on, though

I wouldn't use the Subaru calipers simply on principle.

But there are a number of other reasonably priced conversions you can do. depending on what you are doing, Mk1/early mk2 calipers (239mm) work well. I have them on my goof at the moment and they stop well.

Once I start to get the time/money (hopefully soon) I'll probably look into this magna/commodore brake conversion, which looks really nice and easy, but just thought as I have these calipers lying around, would see if they could become useful. Might be an item for ebay methinks

Thanks anyway guys, will be popping up with a LOT more questions once this project gets underway
