  • Anyone have pics of fitted up Whiteline sway bar?

As per the title. Mine didn't come with a manual. It looks pretty obvious but I'd just like to confirm. A scan of the manual would be even better.

BTW It's a front bar I'm talking about, the rear is GTI for the moment at least.

I'll be fitting this up next weekend so it's good to go for the Sandown event on the w/e following.

I think I'll have to re-enforce the mounts somewhat. It looks like it's designed to sit on those box sections under the front footwells and both of mine are very crushed due to the previous owner cutting off 2 coils and then hitting the springs with an oxy torch. Presumably he must have thought that a car lowered that way was an excellent off road vehicle 'cos the underside of the car is a real mess.

Close ups of the control arm attachments and the chassis mounts would be great. I've also asked Whiteline for a copy of the manual (fingers crossed.)

    Pete

      Fantastic!

      Thanks for that.

That's just how I imagined it. Now I'll have to figure out how to get the box sections straight enough to support it properly.

I've been tooling around for the last week with just the GTI rear bar fitted up and the difference is amazing.

I haven't driven it yet with the front bar on as well.

Opinions differ as to the best option for racing. Some people prefer to run a massive rear bar only, claiming that front bars will lift your front wheel and cause traction issues out of a bend.

Other people say run huge bars all 'round.

I'll develop my own opinion by trial and error!

My other Golf has GTI bars front and rear and that's really nice for a street car.

                Gold bars and red mounts

Wow Valver, that's just so clean! I would be so embarrassed if I ever rolled my cabby and everyone saw its filthy oil stained underside Where did you get that gold bar from? I think it's called a K-bar. I have heard it will stiffen the front end up (and help with the scuttle shake) and also the red engine mounts I was told there were no aftermarket parts available. Will these parts fit a '93 JH engined manual cabriolet?
ps don't forget the sump plug!

Yep, it's a Scirocco 16v K-bar. You can buy 4-point lower subframes from Black Forest Industries, Autotech and Eurosport Accessories out of the USA.

It is a definite upgrade for a Mk1 - makes a HUGE difference to turn-in and general stability Will fit a Cabby no worries aswell.

P.S. Sump plug went in and preceeded 10 months of driving until I sripped it apart and built another one
