Ok i will tell u how i got our wheels made... Get some standard 13's in 4x100, Mazda 323 or something u dont have to use Mk1 wheels...

Then u go to a wheel builder, not a tyre center and get them to get some new hoops, u can choose any size u want and choose any offset u want...

Take the center out of the standard 13's and weld them into the new hoops

We have had it done on 12", 13" and soon to be 15"...

    Cheap, strong and safe...

If u r in Melbourne go to:

Tony has done wheels for us and all our mates

    Bayswater North, Victoria, 3153

    Mobile: 0407 943 353

Hope that helps, and banding steelies can be done but must be done properly

Thanks Water Boy for the info, any idea on what it cost you for the 13's??? As mentioned before, if we were gonna go down this route, it'd be the std 13's with a 14inch band.

Just out of curiosity, where abouts in melbourne are you?
Jarred, there is a mob in Aus who sell ATS classics. Apparently they have only recently started up (I think they are in Bris) and import wheels from UK every 3 months, but a set of 13x7's will set you back ~1200 to your door which is reasonable value I guess but I'm not so sure on 13's. Given Tyres are hard to come by and if we were to lower it, having that extra 1/2 inch in height with a 14inch wheel might come in handy (as its gonna be a daily and I dont want it too low to the ground). I can find a Mob number of the distributer if your interested.

Regarding that pic, yeah its either silver or black (but I reckon black will be better with whitewalls). I might start another thread asking peoples ideas later.

        I'm in South East btw.

have you ever been driving around the mt waverly/burwood area? Cause I've seen a beige 4 door around a few times...? do you have a black surround for your rear number plate?

I geuss that 1200 is a pretty decent price for rims, but as you said, getting tyres for 13x7 would be tricky no doubt, and I'm sure with 14's you're options would be more. yep. that made sense in my head. all the other stuff you said about 14's etc made perfect sense in my mind too,.

Jarred, that wouldnt be me. Although I live in a neighbouring suburb, my Mk1 has still NSW plates (where I bought it) as its not yet registered in Melb.

Golf Loon, you have a PM?
