  • Get My MK1 Cab Back On The Road - Help

Hi all, been a long time since i posted. Life has had a few twists and turns, finally its settling down again and back to normaility.

    So this brings me to my next goal;

My MK1 Cab has been sitting in the barn for almost two years and am desperate to get her going again and back on the road!

    I need a few parts:
    • Starter Motor
    • Passenger side door lock mechanism
    • Dash parts(Just to tidy her up)
    • Possibly an interior

If anyone has these items or knows someone please e-mail ben.pipe@csg.com.au - text me 0406503671

I love this car and it hurts to see it and not be able to use it, so asking for fellow VW owners to help me put another VW GOLF back on the road !!

    Many thanks.

    Hey Ben,

We spoke many moons ago, I bought a white mk1 cabriolet and did it up over time and had to sell unfortunately quite recently due to a change in my own circumstances. It was a real beauty and was immaculate. Sad to see it disappear down the road....

So did yours just break down or did you know it was on the way out? What are your plans with yours now? Keeping it or gonna a move it on?

Parts are available and hopefully the good people of vww will help you out. Maybe give Matt a call from Camden GTI...I'm sure you know who I mean....

    Good luck mate.

    Matt

Hey Matt, long time no speak, all is well. Mine broke down ages ago and as I had another car I just put it in the shed.

Anyway Its been sitting for two and its been doing my head in and so I have started to get it done up so I can drive it again.

But after sitting so long it needs some work.

I have fixed the fault with it and have done a few other jobs

Painted and refurbished the break calipers.

      Cleaned the engine

New sump and rocker cover gaskets

      New brake pads

      New door lock mechanisms

      New oils, filters etc etc

Just need to put a new CV boot on and tidy the interior and a few other jobs ready for a roadworthy.

I plan to keep it and drive buddu\y, if you have any leftover bits you want to sell, give me a call.

      cheers for getting in touch.

Glad to hear you're trying to get it back on the road!

I'll have a look to see if I've got anything that might be useful, recently moved so all in boxes.

Do you know of any cheapie cabriolet Mk1's that might be for sale? Good roof and mechanically sound preferred!

        Cheers

Where are ou based now? I'm sure I used to see you cruising in Manly from time to time!
