How do I remove the tilt lever on seats

I am reupholstering some seats for my 2dr and am having trouble removing the lever on the fronts. See picture of what I need to remove. Has anyone done this or know how to remove it? I have attempted to yank it off or push it from underneath with a screwdriver but I cant seem to get it off and I dont want to break it...

Try levering harder,they are pushed on.
