Welcome to the forum, its good to have you here.
Flares are getting harder to fing and front bumpers are an issue...
I have one new rear bumper left as one is assigned to a WA member.
I also have one set of secondhand flares left that have been cut around the back edge for tyre clearance.
        Christmas cheers, Andrew

Just out of interest, how wide are the flares / plastic wheel arches? How far do they protrude form the metal wheel arch?

Just trying to figure out how wide I could go with tyres

hey mate welcome, you will have fun in a mk1. ive got some brand new plastic bumpers and a body kit, chrome front bumpers are getting hard to find. you'll have to get some straight but rusty ones and have them rechromed. its only $200 to have it done.

All those parts are very easy to find, you'll just have a postage charge from overseas! Are you chasing the GTI arch trims or actual flares, though?

                  What gearbox do you have?

Thanks for the response. GTI arch trims are what I'm looking for (sorry) & the gearbos is a stock 4 speed. My plan is to replace it with a later model 5 speed with a LSD if possible.

                    Cheers.

Hi. Thanks for the respone. How much are you asking for the bumpers & where abouts are you? I'm in Toowoomba Qld.

The GTI arch trims are still available brand new (aftermarket) for about $200. You'd be better off sourcing some ex-UK eBay, though, where there are plenty around for cheap.

I wouldn't bother with an LSD in the 4spd - or an LSD full-stop until you have a bigger engine In any case, they're made by Peloquin, Gemini/VW Motorsport, Kaaz, Quaife, Bauer Motorsport (Germany) and a few others I can't remember.

The Peloquin seems like the best value and is very popular in the States.

I would spend the money on suspension upgrades first. Can't beat a good set of coilovers, poly bushes and swaybars, before anything else. A front lower strut brace is a definite one too.
