So here it is! 77 5 door mk1, 5 speed manual, 1.6L petrol. I have some suspicions that it used to be an auto, anyway
! Finally got it out of the garage to give it a good clean up.
Basically my plan for this one is to go ratty as hell exterior and aim for an immaculate interior.
At the moment, I've pulled the interior out which was actually in pretty damn good condition but the carpet had to go, as it was damp and dirty. (theres a leak in the rain tray) And i soon after found out the previous owner went to town with bitumen paint on the inside. It took 3 bottles of eucalyptus oil but it's almost all clean now.
I managed to find a place in Wagga that can order molded mk1 carpet for a decent price which is awesome! So i'll be lining that up soon. In the mean time I'm going to sort out some new window/door seals, because mine are pretty **** but that is to be expected.
I got pretty lucky with this one. (especially because it was an impulse buy). It's mechanically sound, it just needs a decent service, I'm hoopping i can have it running well and registered by GAF.
So here's my mission plan:
Mission 1: new seals, new carpet, Upgrade the breaks and get it registered before GAF. Then it's coilover time
But In between that, there will be a whole lot of sanding! because i just recently found out this car has atleast 4/5 layers of paint and i think a rainbow bonnet could be pretty cool. If all fails, I'll have some sandblasting to do.
Will post up some pictures later today after i give her a good scrub
