Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk1 golf induction kit/filter change!

Just after some advise on changing the air filter on the mk1 golf. I want to remove the original air box and put in something like a k&n round filter or pipe across system. I noticed there is a small hose off the bottom of the box I think it's to one of the pumps? But anyways I take it ill need to put a t piece in after the filter before the carb to re instate that. The other hose is cool air to the cab I take it.

Or to save all the hassle will I get the same result dropping a panel k&n panel filter in the original box?
Just looking to make her sound a bit more beefy/ something to do!! As if there isn't enough!
    Thanks all!!
