How to remove/replace early mk1 CV joint????

Having trouble removing the outer CV on my early mk1 drive shafts.

Its has a cir-clip thats only accessible via a small gap but i don't understand how to remove it when its in the middle of everything. The best way i can explain it is that its located almost in the middle of the solid part that goes on the shaft.

Can anyone help?

Worked it out, pain in the ass!

A pair of bent nose circlip pliers or 2 small screwdrivers should be able to open it enough to slide it off the collar.
