So got hold of a set of proper porsche teledials a while ago and they've been sat in my storage since then.

When I bought them I was proper into the idea of putting them on the golf, after they were refurbed of course.

But when I saw them in the flesh I was a bit gutted because they're not as cool as I thought?! I think with all the hassle of getting 5x130 to 4x100 adapters and getting new tyres put on them and all that palava, they don't really seem worth it.

Anyway, if anyone knows of somewhere in Aus that I can get hold of those adapters and them not cost the earth, that would be sweet.

Also if anyone knows anywhere to get them refurbed in Brisbane that would be sick. I tried depulu but they wanted like over a grand. I'd do them myself again rather than spend that money.

If not then they're going back on fleabay.

Im sure adaptec will be able to do them, all their prices are between $350-$400 landed. what size are the wheels anyway?

H&R do off the shelf adapters for porsche to mk 1 fitments. adaptec would also do them

That's so expensive bloody hell! Gutted. I think I saw some online on eBay from back home for like $200 ish landed. I'll try to find the link. I dunno what they're like though might be better to avoid cheaper ones if they're keeping my wheels on right.

I'm pretty sure the wheels are 15x6 and 15x5.5 but that could be completely wrong. I'll have to check when I get back to Brisbane.

Has anyone else on this forum moved to 5 studs?

Haha I like that. Chances of getting collared on the street would be low with something like that surely? Still don't know if I like them enough to go through the messing about though. Fancy some like this..





To be honest there's about fifty different wheels / looks I want for my mk1 and I cant decide at all.

So I did a bit of research and these appear to be a really rare set of "flat-faced" 928 or 924 porker rims from 1978/1979 (2 year manufacture period before they went to the curved face of other teledials). Sweet!

I looked into them and these 15 x 7 ones are apparently et53! which means if I get a set of 20mm adapters they'll sit at et33? How would that look roughly? Any ideas? I think I read that et 25 is pretty good for mk1s? Will the look daft like the dont fill the arches, or maybe if I go low enough they'll look sweet all tucked up.

I'll get some pics up tomorrow when I get a chance.

ET33 is about the highest offset you'll want to go. higher offsets will tend to fould on the coilovers that you'll be running. also tyre size and camber are very important.

et25 is generally considered 'flush' for the front arches, on a 7" wheel.

Here are some pictures of the wheels. If they are et53 and I add a 20 mm spacer then they will be et33 right? I that how it works? Aren't there positive and negative offsets too? Whats the difference?








As you can see the hub mounts are really close to the front of the wheel. This means it is less likely to poke out of the rim and more likely to rub on the coilovers or whatever suspension is in there. Does that sound right? How do I make these effing things fit?


Also, what do you guys think of the flat face version of these things? I thought I had the curved ones like the ones below but appaently not, I like these way more than I thought!

i've never seen the 'flat face' style before actually. Although I know rayray has looked at tele's before, and he discovered that there were HEAPS of different ones.

Ignore this ^^ ... "Zero Offset - the hub mounting part of the wheel is equal to the plane of the centerline of the wheel." Cheers Wikipedia. (cut me some slack its late).

So my wheels are positive by 53mm (i.e 53mm past the centreline of the wheel to the "curb-side" of the wheel) and some really deep dish ones might be negative (i.e. closer to the hub-side of the wheel).

so by adding a 20 mm spacer I move the effective position of the hub 20mm closer to the hub mounting surface of the wheel, thus reducing the positive offset (and therefore reducing the distance past the centreline of the wheel before reaching the hub mounting surface).

I need a drink. God help me if I'm struggling at this stage. I've just never seen offset explained properly that;s all.

Throw on some 165/45s and refurb those bad boys will look awesome man
Badger on here got his p slots re for 800$ and they were in much worse condition than yours, needed bits welded for gutter rush etc
