    hey fellas,

i work at tech9tyres over in w.a, a friend and i have gone halves in this car, bought it off a watercooled member.

Just a fun little project we can both have a play with

1980 mk1, has a 16v mk2 gti motor and gearbox in it, goes pretty well for a 30 year old clunker. Needs some panel/paint, interior is shmick but we're putting some fixed backs in it. First mod on the way - set of these in 15x7

got some vmaxx coilovers and some of these coming too

my background is in japanese cars, so this will have a little bit of JDM influence to it.

apart from that, plans are to get the mechanicals up to scratch and just enjoy it for what it is! Budgeting around 7k for the whole project, including purchase price of vehicle, so its going to be a cheap little toy...

    cheers!

    hey cool!
Your plans are sort of similar to mine.
I'm currently looking at seats for my mk1.
    have a look at these:
eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d
i got quotes of $380 for shipping for 2 seats.

hey mate nice little project you got there, what price you getting them BBS for i can only find stuff from UK, US or Germany and the shipping is crazy? Guessing working at Teck9tyres helps a little bit for yourself but a rough price would be appreciated.

          Cheers

Should look good with a few tweaks, seems your on the right path! Didn't you have a pretty tough vl running a carb'd 308 or something along those lines? Any who good luck with the project, I'll be in to see you guys soon for some tyres, euros camber worn down to canvas and my bbs' are nearly back together and need some rubber!

Edit: to ewenhayton, they look to be BB5's if I'm not mistaken...

Ps- throw up a pic of the caddy, thing looks pretty cool, and the mini... And that crazy jeep hahaha

My picky point with BBS reps is when they have BBS badges on them. I think that is like sticking an HSV badge on a executive commodore. But each to their own.

Good luck, modest budget it will come out nicely and look sharp.

                            16v are king!
