  • New here! few questions thats all [:

Hey guys i just bought myself a mk1 and unfortunately its the twin headlight model which i dislike, just wondering how much a single headlight grill and setup would roughly be ?
Or if anyone would like to trade for the dual/twin headlight grill setup.
The mk1 i bought is a 1979 model, do the shapes of the grills differ at all over the different year models?

    Cheers,

    Zale

Not really i was going to get an s3 but ive decided to keep the mk3 and i have recently purchased a new head for it and am continuing with it. but this is just a project for fun that i can do and not be so anal about as with my vr6 i dont like going out to the farm because of the paintwork.. so this way i can still have fun but not care so much in the mean time, as well as learning a ****load more

All MK1 grilles are the same, look about you will probably locate one for about $50 via eBay or the classifieds here. The existing lights and the outside edge trims remain the same on both styles.

Yeah haha didnt buy it for a speedy rig!

wouldnt mind doing a tdi conversion, but the tdi's are so heavy and i like to keep the mk1 nice and light!

Top stuff looking forward to this project !

Just another question, are there any differences apart from the engine being diesel in the mk1's? for example do they all use the same cv's and suspension setups?

I might have a slightly tatty mk1 single light grill (see my sig) in a couple of weeks if I get the one I'm after.

When I say tatty, I'll have to check - it sticks out a bit but I'm not sure if somethings snapped or just has a clip/screw missing.

                        I'll keep you posted.

mostly same, diesel to petrol swaps are common. all just bolts in and goes really. just need a 12v feed for a coil and done.
