1.8T swaps are becoming common everywhere else but Australia...I think mainly due to the lack of available donor parts, and cost....however i have managed to find this...
is being loaded into the container now, hopefully here for xmas...
COOL ! although note the wiring menace on the left of the pic......won't need even half of that !!
Great engine for a golf 2or 3 but a lot of work making mounts for a golf 1.The AEB engine from a passat or A4 with the external water pump just bolts into a golf1 without any mods needed to the mounts plus they have the big port head.

Quarantine are gonna have fun with that pallet! Looks like an awesome motor. From the UK?
Haha,
well that was how it was stored , its coming in a sealed box, from the states. the shipper I use knows the deal as he is an expat aussie !!!
It is only a 150HP AWW code,23000 Mi, O2J, axles, pedals, all the wiring etc.. but for the price it was a bargain, bout 300Kg's for those that need to know the shipping weight.
Mounts are available from numerous sources, UK and US so with a standalone it will go into the MK 1 without any undue stress on my part.
leaving for the US next week for the MK1 GTG in Socal, some shopping and a lot of boozin..

What would they want with it out of interest ?!!?!?
Oz quarantine (AQIS) is very strict on anything organic in origin entering the country. We are free of a lot of exotic diseases (as a farmer I'm happy about this!) and they intend to keep it that way. I looked into importing a diesel engine and was told that wooden pallets were very difficult to clean and were frowned upon by AQIS. Second hand information I know, but I can believe it.
Any wood sent from countries with bse or foot and mouth has to be burned at the docks coming into Oz. Expensive and inconvenient if your engine is on it!
