  • Wrecking mk3 golf... what should i keep for my mk1?

    Hi guys,
As the title says, im wrecking a mk3 golf and was wanting to know if any of its parts would be a good upgrade on my mk1.
I bought the car for the motor and box which ill be converting to my mk1, just wanted to know if there is anything else worth keeping?
    Thanks,
    Alex.

If it has rear disk brakes you could bolt those onto your Mk1 Golf, gives it a better look IMO.

brake booster + master cylinder, front and rear brakes and you'll need the wiring loom, fuse box & computer to run the mk3 engine. Also if the seats are shagged in your mk1 you could keep them and do a base conversion to fit the mk1

Point to remember if it's a later mk3 you'll need the transponder in the key to make it run

      Hope this helps

Yep, was going to use the mk3 brakes.
Do you know what year the electric key came in? My mk3 is a 97 model.

Yeah from memory it was 95/96 so you'll need the transponder
