clutch pedal stays too high..

hi.

after I put a bulkhead patch for clutch cable.

clutch pedal stays too high like this


but it actually works on the same high as brake pedal (as I adjusted..)



there's just a huge gap so sometimes feel tired to put my foot on the pedal.....

is there anyway to make it right? any return spring on the lever?

adjust the clutch cable.

near the front of the pedal assembly directly infront of the clutch, on some models there is a piece of steel that protrudes sideways (in line with the firewall and horizontal) infront of the clutch pedal pivot point.

You can put a suitable rubber bushing over this (I think some were fitted from the factory) that holds the pedal down in the correct spot - it also softens the pedal return.

Once you have done that, you should adjust the cable so that there is ~15mm of free travel before the actuation lever on the gearbox begins moving when the pedal is depressed.

As gldgti said, there is a mechanical stop that is a small piece of metal attached to the pedal cluster bracket. These usually get bent towards the bulkhead through normal use and age. The rubber buffer usually dissapears after a few years.

Gently bend the pedal stop back to its original position, both the clutch and brake pedals are supposed to be at the same "height" at the foot pad. have a look at any wrecks you come across to get the stop rubber from, then fit it to your car...

Tab I have arrowed in Green is the clutch pedal stop . It has lost its rubber also.



Follow instruction on "gently" bending it back.

Bending back the stop solved the problem..
