You really don't need to make 2 new threads a day, just keep your questions to one or two of them.
You can get a radiator from the US for about $200 inc. shipping, two widths for MK1's are 485mm and 510mm from memory.
Have a good look on ebay. Otherwise any parts place like Repco or whatever you westerners have can get one on for you. -
A radiator shop is the best place as they may be able to repair/offer a new alternative.Comment

While we are on the subject of radiators, with the mk1's, does it matter what kind of radiator is used. I want to delete the water bottle, and have a radiator which takes the water instead. I can get a hone radiator, but they look rather skinny compared to the mk1's. Most cars i have seen have skinnier radiators and smaller too, why is the mk1 so big and chunky then?- Orange Golf mk1 LS, 1.8 5speed, 32/36 - sold

I changed to the radiator you're talking about George, the ones with the separate reservoir are (supposedly) better though.Comment

It's pretty simple George, the larger the capacity equates to more air transfer of heat and better ability to cool under load.
A small rad might be ok but could reach a limit when pushed. Bit like heat soak in intercoolers.Comment
