VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life There are few things more satisfying in life than finding a solution to a problem and implementing it

This car came from Vinifera past Swan Hill. We had a crazy day collecting it, our hired trailer fell apart and I thought that we were going to get wolf creeked at one point but it worked out well.
on the way home
shagged interior
the bad side
good bumpers
but they will go on this
all are ebay buys, the white car was a three for one deal..... Im picking up another next week from bendigo that i traded a guy at work some EH gauges for.

Got it started today after removing this from the engine bay and cabin.
I was surprised to find almost all electrical systems were at least partially working with the exception of the radio, thermo fan, rear demister and horn. Most of the wiring removed was for the bodgy aussie auto electrician unnecessary aftermarket adjustable thermo switch and poorly conceived relay arrangement.
THe motor wont idle and it sounds like maybe the timing belt tensioner is no good. Otherwise its in remarkably good shape mechanically.
THanks Jarred, I was planning on sorting it mechanically and doing the minimum for roadworthy (to keep its rat values intact) and selling it but believe it or not my girlfriend loves the rat look. I have a 28/36 weber, are these any good on a std 1.6?
Beige 79 Mk1 GLD White 76 Mk1 LS 3 door
White 68 Alfa 1750 Berlina Champagne 91 Alfa 75
Red 09 9N3 Polo TDI White 2010 Skoda Octavia Combi TDI
the 32/26 weber certainly wakes up the 1.6 a bit Do it!

The white car is mostly original paint. The previous owner received a 4wd to the drivers door. It was replaced under insurance and they painted the whole side of the car which is unfortunate. Its very clean and very straight. It will probably get the GTI replica but with a 1.6TD motor and GTD badges. The missing piece is a wolfsburg steering wheel.
The main issue with the orange car is the roof has been pushed in. The skin has lost tension and is all wavey. I'll tear the headlining out (its already torn) and see how much i can push it out, hopefully i'll get a good result but then theres the headlining to replace...... Im thinking a rough and ready race car....... Ideally a twin dcoe config with gti/cabrio swaybars and brakes. Sound like fun?
I have a big shed (7.5x18m) with a big carport so I can do the things that I have wanted to for years. We have 8, a beige 1.6TD daily, a red 1.5D that will be for sale soon, the blue, orange and white cars, another red GLD that is donating parts, a yellow GLS that will be for sale soon and a white LS that I'm picking up next week from a mate at work. I made an offer on the LS on ebay too but he knocked it back.
I've got a handle on it, i can stop any time i want!
