  • mk1 Alternator and starter motor testing??!?

does anyone out there know of an easy way (or anyway) to test wether starter motor and alternators still work, by using a multimeter??

Any other ways, besides for actually putting them on a car and testing them??

The starter motor is the easy one. Clamp the casing securely in a good vice and connect the earth lead of a jump pack or battery leads to the vice or motor casing and whack the positive terminal with the hot lead from battery/jump pack.

As for the alternator - prob the easiest way to test that is to take it to your local auto spark and ask them to bench test it. Prob won't charge you for the test.
