Got a 4 speed that i pulled out of a car about a year ago, been sitting in shed since.
Decided to clean it up as it was literally covered 2cm in thick, black sticky crap.
Broke most of it free with a flat head screwdriver, and then used a large wire brush to scrub 90% of it down.
Went to drain oil and it had about 3 drops come out.... so i took the end bit off with the 4 bolts, and only a few more drops came out. so she Dry as.
Question is, what checks can i do to see if its ok without putting it in a car or pulling it apart?
I have put it in every gear and spun it round and nothing seams to grind or make any odd noises, just a slight noise which im assuming is lack of oil, as it sounds like gear on gear or something.
If i slap it in reverse, and grab both driveshaft output and turn them same direction, its really hard, same for 4th, 3rd is easier, 1st and 2nd spin easy, sign of anything wrong?
