Again, Thanks all. Since I've gotten it done I've only put about 40 miles on it. It has been raining alot, so it is sitting with a car cover on it.

Suggested by golfworx that I post this...

Some mild tuning has been done to my 79 TD by me of course

Removed blow off valve and installed a custom made block off plate. Turned up the fueling a tad and added a manual boost controller. Also has a 2.25" TT exhaust with a Borla muffler (I don't like drone) very free flowing.

It will make 25 lbs of boost when I really get on the go pedal. It is absolutely a blast to drive and is pretty damn fast for being basically stock. I never knew a TD could be this fun to drive. It will walk away from most of the tuner cars around here.

Cosmetically a couple of changes... A-pillar fairings and NOS Mk1 euro GTD grille badge and Golf GTD hatch badge.
Also scored a couple of period correct goodies for my Mk1... aftermarket old school rear sway bar and a AM-FM radio.

This was a semi local VW air cooled and water cooled car show. I placed in the top 25 cars with my 79 and also with an 84 Jetta GLI I built. There were 162 cars at this show. Not bad since this is a first time at a car show with it.

That looks fantastic. Love how you kept the badges and sidemarkers. Looks like I stepped back in time - refreshing to see!

Good to see you still jump on here Big D.

              Car look's awesome.

Different look with the euro front, bumper's, side & windscreen trim's & the US side markers.

Look's like you've got some side weather shield's on there too.

Post up some interior shot's if you get the chance too.

The previous pictures were on a hosting site that was shut down by my son.
                  Sorry!!

Thanks for all the compliments folks!

I was lucky to find a NOS Hella grille still in the original box (which I still have) when I was buying the parts to build the car. It had been in the guys closet for 15 years and finally decided he wasn't going to use it. $75 shipped to me.

The door window visors (weather shields) were new also, still in the original box.

Tim, I really like this forum. Everyone here seems to be very nice, unlike another website I frequent....

Here are some pics of the interior as requested and the car I started with...
and a few more. Not bad for a 48 year old kid.

Mate, I hope you're very proud of what you have achieved. That is one of the nicest, cleanest, simplest restored Mk1's i've ever seen.

                      Thanks!

My son says I'm to humble about what I have achieved with building the car.
I wanted to build a car like this for a long time.
