  • Good Quality Oil?...Recommendations

changing the oil in my box, as it's been getting a hard time.

any recommendations as to a quality gearbox oil to suit 020 5-speed?...don't mind spending money on the important bits.

    thanks folks.

Motul Gear 300 is about the best non-LSD specific oil I've used. Motul Gear-FF-LSD is the choice if you have an LSD, though.

Redline Heavyweight Shockproof is also pretty good in an older trans. The lightweight version is ok in a newer one too

You can still use Gear-FF... In fact, you can run it in stock trans altogether. A lot of the Jap crowd run it in standard transmissions It's just a lot dearer than Gear 300, which is damn good anyway...

Mild extreme pressure gear oil with special viscosity stabilisers to overcome shift problems. Recommended for use in transaxles of most front wheel drive vehicles with a transverse engine and manual transmissions experiencing low temperature shift problems. SAE 75W/80, API GL4.
