Anyhow the wheels are not a big concern.
I had the car on the dyno today just got it on the road wed,
100.1 hp wheels running no vacum adv 74.9 kw @wheels, which is converted by the computer to be 123.9 hp @fly/w which is pl prefix eng code i believe was a u s release and had a smaller intake cam.
KR cam next then on the dyno again maybe with some vac adv nextime

    cheers dave

i'll throw some more pics on later tonight of when i put the motor in,
        cause i want to.
i'm pleased to hear that some of you are interested in my conversion, it was quite easy, though playing with k-jet took on a whole new meaning ,for me anyway.
Lots of fun behind the wheel to be had for you guys thinking of converting.

But just as much fun with the 8v gti that was in it, with only 11 hp difference the pull up high in the revs are apparent compared with the 8v wich was as strong down low if not a little stronger......bla bla bla

pics are always easier to read.

            I love pics

I so wanted a 16V, but cant do it myself (at this stage in my life). Went to a mechanic and asked if he could do it for me..... he said it will take all week to do it..... and at something like $60 per hr thats big bucks.... ill stick with the 8V for time being.

60 bucks an hour? wow who's your mechanic, I don't think I've ever been charged less than 80 an hour. Melbourne VW places are a rip off. I just need to save for a nice tool kit and then will do it all myself.

Anyway back on track, Dub-ha8 what have you done with your Idle stabilization valve?

I have used the Aux Air Valve from a Golf MK1 GTi instead of fitting the ISV from a Golf MK2 as they give so much problems

I've fitted it round the back of my engine to keep it all neat

I got away with putting washrs on one side behind the booster to straighten the master cylinder out, which gave me enough room to get my dizzy cap on and off.
                    5 min fix.

The pic above is also done the same with some washers behind the booster just relocated the filler bottle so it wasn't so clustered,
funny thing is that i don't need it that way any more as iv'e got the 16v dizzy in there noe a have plenty of space just havn't done it yet.

But it's a great fix to the prob at hand i agree.

the abf distributor cap can sort this problem out, it points upward 90 degree elbows

                            Nice pics.

They show the Mk2 style brake fluid bottle. That makes it easier.
If using the early style booster, it fouls and still would even with the abf cap. Thats where the washeres and kicking the booster over helps.

I thought of making the bars longer and moving the booster further to the right, but if I was gonna go to all that trouble, might as well rig up something better.

Rolling beam, is used in citi golfs and old saabs! Hydraulics would be better though.

dave, post about the cruise in this thread. theres a couple people keen to organise one.

Can anyone tell me if they've heard of a Golf or GTI drivers club in Queensland? I've searched the net and there does not seem to be a dedicated drivers club. I take delivery on the 23rd Sept of my GTI and would be interested in "club cruises" about south east Queensland. I find it amazing if there is not a club for
