  • Heater/fan installation

Hey guys. As a few of you might know i have a MK2 dash, so just to make it clear i dont really mind if all the vents etc dont work. I JUST WANT A HEATER !! (Its cold as)

I have no heater/fan or anytihng inside atm, as the car came like that. I've managed to gather a few parts together. I have the heater core, the big black box, the cables that open close the vents on the box, the little switch (1-2-3 speed) and the fan ofcourse.

Basicaly im stuck on the speeds. I've researched but wasnt very lucky. How do i get all the speeds working? Im unsure if i have a relay or whatever, so i might have to start from scratch. The switch for the speeds i have, has 4 wires coming out of it, white, yellow/black, yellow, and red/black. I've got no clue what the next step is haha. How do i wire up a relay to get all of the speeds, i've also read something someting something resistor. LOL wtf is a resistor

Any help would be appreciated, and pics would do wonders !!

does the fan work without the switch set up?

Cordoba dashes fit in the MK1 and 2 as I have read (if u r not a purist) may be an option
    later dash fans switches etc

the speed control is the bit you adjust with the knob, there really isnt much too it. Is it a stock Mk1 heater box? if so i can sus out my wiring tomorrow and get back to you

The switch is just a variable resistor/potentiometer and each speed you select allows different levels of current to flow to the fan motor. I would think that the four wires would be + and - from the battery and 1 wire from the fusebox to the switch and one wire from the switch to the fan motor.

            Where's Spyda, am i close?
