  • exhaust fumes inside the mk1

hey guys, i keep on smelling exhaust fumes from the car, got it checked out, exhaust had no leak, is this common in the mk1? can exhaust get in from under the bootlid? what about heater and fan vents? are they permanently open? can they be shut off?

    thanks

i had a problem with my oil dipstick. it wasnt sealing and when the revs get up a bit oil would splash on the block and burn, the smell came into the cabin. might wanna check that.

Look in the firewall under the bonnet and the raintray under the wiper motor. There is probably a rubber seal missing and letting in smells

try and rout it back into the engine mate via the breather system or yeah even the intake.

thanks mate, the engine is a 2.0 agg out of a mk3, will it have any adverse affects if i just pluged up the crankcase breather?

                  cheers
