  • Project :LOW-080: Mk1

Have had this Behind shed for a while now.
Not wanting to scrap it as its too good for that, i decided i should attack it before it turns to ****.

its a 19XX something 4 door, unsure what year as yet.
Minimal rust, the worst is along the bottom seal. a small hole or two on floor. and a bit in passenger rear guard.

Unsure what im going to do as yet, but it should be something as the following

    Repaint,
    Low
    Rims (unsure what yet,)
1.8L on Digifant (want to try out EFI )
Hidden wiring and battery in boot.
    Upgraded brakes,
    stock interior

I have no time limit so it will be a slow process i reckon,
really want to power in and get the main shell in Primer, will motivate me to get paint on her

From that view the paint almost looks perfect!
Looks like a solid starting point for a project.
Best of luck with EFI (when you get there!)

        thanks mate,
First step is to get what little rust there is fixed, all the holes in engine bay filled.
And then car in primer. I have never painted a car before, but im sure going to give it a go

Yeah Ryan, i really want to go something EFI, Might See if i can get hold of a Mk2 Engine and loom and go from there.
Work has been slow, so Funds are small, and most of it goes into the Green Machine ATM. But sanding is Cheap

just to let you know, leaving a car in primer ( unless its 2 pac epoxy primer ) still allows the metal under the primer to corrode, yep, its hygroscopic ie absorbs moisture...

To spray in 2 pac you will need a proper booth and correct breathing apparatus, it contains isocyanates.

          HTH.
          Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

          Cheers,
          Grant...

Is that a direct bolt on manifold wise to a 1.8L?
Injectors in head or actually on a fuel rail on manifold?

Going to Make a start on this tomorrow if the weather is decent.

Since having the green one off the road ive had a chance to check it out for rust, and its worse then i thought
So everything good from green will make its way into this shell. Also cuts me down from 3 golfs to 2 LOL

Got 3 of the windows in, all the winders and rubbers where shot in the red car
Took a while to swap over 3 lots of it all into the red doors

Rear wiring harness in, rear lights, interior light ect, put headlining in (what a bitch!!! and it still looks crap )
                          Carpet is in. Getting there

Front suspension removed, steering rack gone, bay pressure washed, inside of guards pressure washed, and inner guards. looks like 30+ years of dirt and **** gone.
Got an idea of what rims i want to run, coilovers on way soon. Will go the Mk3/SEAT brake setup in this one too as it works great.

The tow hook and external brake lines tell me it's an 80+?
