          • Hey lads,

Say I sanded back a bonnet to bare metal.
What would be the fastest way to get it completely covered with surface rust (and how long roughly).

I was thinking to taper off the edges with something and pour salt water over it every so often, but I'm only after surface rust.

            Any ideas?

if its bare steel, all it needs is moisture and you'll be surprised how fast surface rust jumps on!!!!

              • wet it down and surface rust should be there in a few days.

Salt will rust it quicker, which means the rust will become more serious wuicker, ie. you'll have holes quicker... if you get wat I'm saying.

Water and air for a couple days ought to do it.

                oh and pics please.

                • You can get paints that put a layer of surface rust on the metal. I've seen it on a modified computer case no idea what it is called though but it shows them in this thread about the case.

EDIT: here is the official pics presentation made by bit-tech.net with pics supplied by Piloux himself ( :thumb: ) to show the advancement of the...

                      • Red Bull reacts with the metal and gives it an aged look...

                            • Don't know what brand, but they'd be 13's, possibly 14's. There is a BBS wheel that looks similar, but the name escapes me.

                              • 14s look about right. That staggered dish with the stretched tyres just tops it off.
