Hey guys

might have found a cheap mk1 but its LHD just wondering if anyone here has done a swap or if they ahve just left it LHD.

It wont be a daily drive so having overtaking issues doesn't worry me as i dont see myself overtaking anyone anyways haha!

they were built to be left and right hand drive so it's very doable.

you'd need all the linkages associated with the brakes, RHD steering rack, steering coloum, dash etc etc. a bit of mucking around for probs not much result. (unless it was a GTI or a freebie maybe!)

i'm guessing you're talking about the cabby on ebay? in primer?

Bingo - i suppose if i was to buy it would be too much mucking around and very expensive - MK1 parts are hard to get at the best of times

yea, if you had all the parts from a complete donor, it could be OK, but i think the money he's asking for starters, is unrealistic!

i spoke to my favorite customer and he said not to bother converting it, and when i told him it was a convertable he said it would only be worth the money to wreck as converting to rhd would cost more than its worth

That convertible is worth $500 tops. This is it's second outing on e-bay. It'll get cheaper.

Considering there's no rego history registering it will be a pain.

I'd convert it to RHD but then I've got a heap of parts lying about.

Nothing to spare at the moment. Just be patient, something will turn up before long.

Somebody will know somebody that's giving one away and one will land in your lap.

I've had 4 given to me over the last 3 years.

I'll let you know if I hear of any.
