  • My Mk1 Cabriolet

Hey thought i would finally put up a build thread for my Golf.

I brought it to use as a daily and as something a little bit different. Ive had lots of different sorts of cars and i wanted a bit of a challenge this time to make something i thought was pretty lame into a cool car.

    1976 MK1 Golf Cabriolet
New soft top (YUK) cost $2500 hahahaha (it was on when i brought it)
    Standard 1.6 4 speed

Since I've had it i have:

    - GTi front Lip
    - GTi Flares
    - Coilovers
    - New steering wheel and boss
    - Painted Grille and badge
    - Fender mirrors (being changed to different ones) p.s. most people will hate these but I've always had them and its different.
    - Painted wheels black (still need new rims)
    - Painted rear section of 'tray'
    - Some random pin-striping
    - Tidied up interior
    - Removed rear badges

Future plans are to convert the car into a little ute by making a home made hard top, rear window and tray as i don't like the soft top. They way i will be able to have it as a ute, convertible or soft top if i want.

Heres some pictures from start to where its up to now. Last one i test fitted my sportmax on there, 15x7 15p front and 15x8 0p rear, fronts were perfect but back offset is just too low. Haven't decided on what wheels i want, might stick with a set of 13's as i think 15's are a little big? What do you guys think?

First day i got it (removed bling hub caps and a bunch of ricer ****)

    Painting the back

    Pin-striping

    Coilovers, lip, mirrors

I didn't think i'd like it, but you've done a top notch job there.
There is no Golf in my life. This is unacceptable...
