Daily. Been driving it for over 5 years with nary a hitch (touch wood). It was in awesome condition when I got it; a little less so now, but cars are meant to be driven not hidden.

I'm kind of thinking of retiring it and/or making it a weekender, but I have nowhere it put it. Plus it's so fun to drive. A MK4 sounds appealing, though.

                I wish!

Every time I fire up the MK1, the kids want to come for a ride! The only reasonable excuse for them not to go for a ride is if I am going to work! - much to the disgust of the missus

See having more kids is the key to my phrase. All kids would involve me strapping one to the roof racks.

I bought mine as a project 6 years ago , and it quickly became my daily do to the enjoyment of it and the fact that here in the state's most the mk1's running around are either junk or show queens i'm in the middle somewhere.. i've put 160,000 miles since i bought it and i would guess the body has 250,000 miles on it............

Hey 101, welcome to the forum!

On my way from Mt Beauty to Bright I cooked the standard Mk1 diesel brakes. Such fun! I love every minute of driving it!
