Still i thought most articles were worth the read like the one in your profile. Standard looking immaculate GTi mk2 gunmetal grey with 1.8t
looks so factory i think it's mad.
The stats on the 1.8t....... well now i want to share some info i can't find the book .
one thing i do remember is that the block from the 1.8t's are virtualy the
              As the 8v's & the 16v's 1.8
same block^ but obviously strengthened lots but they've been deemed the strongest mass production motor in the world ever as they engineered so well. They come from the factory pretty much good for i think 350 hp without any intenal mods and reliable :!:

Would imagine most of the holes would be in the block, but mounting locations would be diff on the 1.8t cause thats the case when you go from mk2 to m1, i've a 16v in a mk1 what was a 1.8 GTi 8v and previous to that obviously 1.6 carb. Would love to look into what's involved in putting 1.8t in, as then this little mk1 of mine would have had all the motors in it but for the vr6, which i'm told is to heavy for the mk1, though suspension mods to cater for this wouldn't be hard though exspensive. But if u have the money to put a VR6 in a MK1 susp mods shouldn't faze u much.
That's it i'll drive this motor for a year or two as i have not even driven it yet with this motor as you would know if youv'e been reading all the posts in the forum. **** now i'm just raving on at 11:30 sun night, SEE what VOLKSWAGEN does to you

                    1.8T in Mk1

Putting the motor in is easy just a few hours but wiring it up is another thing

dont forget u have to make up custom brackets or u could buy them now since other people have done the conversion plus the exsaust will have to be custom, as well with the intake pipes and all, fairly big conversion ahaed of ya not to mention engineering it............ching ching
                      the golf is not dead.
