Wow nice one man, I prefer single headlight grills a lot more on Mk1s. Good to see you've kept it, the plan sounds saweeet.

I am told you can get BMW e30 wheels that are a bbs mesh 14x6.5 to fit mk1 golf
I will go 2nd hand as I have small budget atm.

What did you do with your old grille? I need the red stripe on the edge. Paint doesn't have to be good, just needs to be straight. PM me if we can work something out.

gonna hang onto it for now, like to have spares..... paint work is crappy anyway... not a genuine gti grille...

I would sell my left nut for a quad GTI grille (red stripe)...

My personal thought, but to all the haters, I personally think mk1's with quad grilles (red) is as tough as it gets...
Genuine quad grille's pretty much have to be had from the UK and cost a mint....

I reckon a genuine one on the later mk1's look really good!
the one that was on my mk1 which is a 4th month '76 looked hideous.... the inner headlight holes were cut out by an amateur.. and the paint work was pretty ordinary as well... it had to go!

I got a orig GTi grille too but the paint is crappy. Must be a common problem.

i am such a hater of quad lamps!! even on mk2's.. hahaha i'm terrible... i think thats what drew me to mk1 and mk2s from a jap kid though.. the dual lamp ones.. they just look so classic and stylin.. i dunno guys i just don't think i could even run 4... unless they were yellow fog lamps that hung from under the front bumper thats kinda cool..

Yeah, I reckon the quad headlights looked so stupid on the early mk1..... Dunno what the prev. owners were thinking lol... the wheels are hideous too.... they have to go!!! Glad to finally change it back to the single setup for sure. Looks way better.
It's a pretty short grille as it is.... looks too cluttered up with the additional inner headlights lol

Making progress with yours Josh? RWC soon?
