Hottuning Installation

Hi guys

About to install a set for my mk1 and remember reading about replacing the top strut mounts when doing it.

Can anybody give me a heads up where to get these in Brisbane?
my usual place for parts reckons I can use parts from a Superbug!

i just re used my old ones. not sure where to source new ones locally.

why does every one change to tops anyway? mine seemed fine... a bit bowed which makes it tricky to get the bolts trough the strut tower. but they seem to do the job just fine...

strut tops are a consumable, and have an effect on the ride quality. shagged ones will give you a harsher ride. (no give)

They're reasonably cheap, and considering most probably havn't been replaced in a long time it's well worth it.

Either hit up Golf Loon, or try HSY etc. I'm getting some through volkspower (in vic), but they're getting them from sydney anyways.

I've heard you can use a Hottunning coilover (front only) in the front of a superbug.

Maybe try Imparts at Eagle Farm, ph. 3623 2296. Or you could just try Volkswagen Spare Parts. With a bit of luck someone might dig up a part number

i'm interested to know where to get these in Bris too as i'll be looking to replace strut top mounts when i upgrade my suspension in near future (for same reason as Jarred states).

No good with Imparts or Volkswagen (not even a part no. available from those guys)

Impats suggested Mick Motors at Northgate, who suggested the Superbug mounts

Hey Lorenz, if they're pretty accessible you guys could offer them with the kits for an additional fee.
It'd make it a lot easier (and safer than taking the old mount off without spring comopressors!) for everybody changing to Hottuning, or any of the other set ups you guys offer.

I got a brand new set from ebay few months back eBay Australia Shop - Mk1 Autohaus: Engine Mechanical, Body Exterior Trim, Fuel Air Aus dollar is weak atm, brought a bunch of parts from this guy no probs. You can also try Vw Volvo centre in Rocklea

just need some le castellet wheels and i will be sweet
