  • Mk1 Aircon

    Hey peeps,
Seen as I have a few weeks off college I was thinking about trying to fit the aircon set up I bought.
As far as I can see, all I need to fit is the compressor which sits near the alternator as all the rest is still in my car from a previous setup...I think.

Anyone have any pics of there setup? How the compressor sits in the engine bay will be good!
Will I need an alternator with a double pulley?

    Any help appreciated
    Cheers
    Alex

No one runs aircon in their Mk1?
All I need is a pic or some info on how the compressor sits in the engine bay, above or below the alternator etc..?

      Pretty please.

              Wow, thanks Melissa! Much appreciated.
Hopefully I can work out how to make my box of bits into something.
The pics help a lot. Your compressor looks a bit different to mine tho, hopefully it sits the same way.

              Thanks again

Aussie aircon fitment was done through external suppliers, not the VW factory option the LHD cars came with. Pretty well every supplier had their own mount set up. Of the 2 that i have seen, both very different they are pretty cheap and nasty, My cabrio alternator had the lugs broken of from miss aligned aircon mounting set up. If it wasnt for the fact that my missus wanted aircon it would have all ended up in the bin where it belongs

If you go to the restorations threads there are some pics in there. Bottom of page 5 you can see the blue brackets on the compressor.

                  Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...

If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??

Oh really. I didn't think it was a VW thing. Probs why I couldn't work it out. Not sure I've even got all the parts I need.
If I can't figure it out, it will go in the bin don't you worry. Haha.
I just thought why not put it in seeing as it's all there apart from the compressor.

                    Cheers for the info.
